Roxwell Road is the latest communal heating project to adopt a chemical-free water treatment approach aligned with VDI 2035 principles.
The installation includes three commercial heat pumps, providing a total output of 210kW and supplying 80 heat interface units.
For this project, the heat pump manufacturer has set specific water treatment requirements, including:
- Low chloride levels
- Low total hardness values
- Low conductivity levels
- Low oxygen levels
- Increased pH levels
eleXion is supporting the project by helping the system meet these requirements without the use of chemical inhibitors.
During the construction phase, a temporary electric boiler is currently being used to dry the concrete floors. An eleXion reaction tank has also been fitted as a temporary measure to help keep the flushed and filtered system clean before final commissioning.
This approach supports:
- No chemical dosing
- Minimal water waste
- Cleaner system water
- Manufacturer water quality requirements
- Long-term heat pump protection
- VDI 2035-aligned system preparation
As heat pump systems become more widely used across communal heating projects, correct water quality management is becoming increasingly important. Low conductivity, oxygen control and stable pH all play a key role in protecting system components and supporting long-term performance.
